A wise woman once told me that if you have a blog then you should have something to say. As it turns out, my industry is almost entirely image driven. My clients delight and inspire me every day and rather then tell you about them, I wish to show them (with permission of course) to the world! In recent months, I have been turning my focus to such sites as Instagram (jennghaneystylist) and Facebook to post images of my work. As a result, I am happy to announce my soon-to-be-launched website jennghaney.com It will include all images of my work and quick blast news events! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
It’s my favourite time of year again! The weekend of Goldwell’s Colorzoom competition and show! This year we are in Los Angeles, California and its an amazing time! The talented global creative team presented their newest collection for 2014 entitled ‘Reallusion’ This collection proves to be another goodie with pastel colors and intriguing haircuts.
My colleague, Chelsea Sutherland, was magnificent in representing Canada in the competition!
Pictures are of the Parade of Nations at the Nokia theatre and our darling Chelsea competing!
This little beauty’s name is Maria! She has this adorable grin on her face the entire time she is at the salon, she is a little treasure. Maria uses No Poo, One Condition, Light Defining Gel and has just learned how to clip her wee waves. At 6 years old she is my youngest ‘Deva’!
Two weeks ago, I grabbed my shears and flew to Devachan salon in New York city for an intense 3 days of training. It’s hard to believe that only a year ago I was sitting in the same Devachan salon, as a client and getting a style that would change my life. It’s been a whirlwind year of having my clientele grow from being approximately 40% wavy and curly, to having days where I seldom see a straight hair! (Don’t worry, it’s still awesome to see my straight-haired clients!) Having the brand Devacurl in our salon has been an amazing experience. Never before have I seen clients hair change so drastically; gone are frizzy hairs and split ends! Now the styles are calmed, locks are shiny and my clients are ecstatic (once we grasped the ‘scrub it in, scrub it out’ principle)
Inspired by my own experience at the Devachan salon and wanting to learn as much about curly hair as I could, I took every opportunity after that to learn everything DevaCurl. That included learning both from the wonderful Devacurl educator Jenessa Couture who visited the island and by checking out all the online resources available through Devacurl. It’s been a year of having the MOST fun discovering new things about a product line and its effects on hair.
So, January found me a part of the DevaCurl Professional Curl Course at the Devachan salon in Soho, Manhattan. It was three intense days of Curls 101, brought to you by Denis DaSilva (co-creater of Devacurl) and Shari Harbinger (Director, Training and Development) who were quite the dynamic duo! They taught us the Devacurl cutting method, that in my humble opinion is the only one that really, truly WORKS, and the Pintura method of highlighting, a beautiful natural looking hilight specifically designed for your curls. Meeting my model Diana was a wonderful treat, and standing in the Devachan salon and working behind the chair was a surreal experience that I will treasure forever.
Thanks to the fantastic training I received I am now proud to say that I am a Deva Inspired Advanced Stylist!
So they say time flies when you’re having fun, well I’ve been having the time of my LIFE! What an exciting fall and winter! October saw me in London for Goldwell’s Color Zoom event. This is my favourite hair show every year and always the most inspiring as they present collections and trends for the upcoming year. This year Color Zoom was combined with one of Europe’s biggest hair shows, Salon International, to make one heck of a show! I attended a presentation with the up-styling guru Patrick Cameron to learn all the latest in vintage styling; the 1930’3 and 40’s are alive and well!
Here’s my video from Goldwell’s stage presentation of their 10 year anniversary of Color Zoom and this year’s fascinating collection – Beautify! Enjoy!
Calling all wavy haired gals (and dudes of course)! After using the amazing DevaCurl in the salon for almost a year now, I felt that there needed to be another product for us wavy/s’wavy haired gals. Today, fresh out of the box, I received the coveted bottle of Ultra Defining Gel – DevaCurl’s newest addition to their line specific for wavy or s’wavy hair. No longer will I need to combine specific (and almost scientific!) amounts of Frizz Free Volumizing Foam, Angel, Arc Angel, and/or One Condition for my wavy haired gals and guys! Check back to read some feedback and reviews from my clients!
